I grew up watching Wheel of Fortune and remember the Chuck Woolery days (1975 until 1981). I was 20 when Pat Sajak and Vanna White joined the game show cast in 1982. They have been a part of my regular television viewing for 41 years. Sadly, Pat Sajak is retiring from the hosting slot. He was loved and will be missed. In a TikTok post, Vanna shared memories of their time on the show and conveyed how much Pat Sajak has meant to her over the years.

This game show duo had chemistry from their first day together. It isn’t a romantic chemistry, but definitely brother-sister vibes. That chemistry is the reason for much of the show’s success. Wheel of Fortune creator Merv Griffin had a knack for picking perfect hosts for his game shows. Pat Sajak and Alex Trebek were cut from similar molds, and they ruled the game show world for decades.
In her farewell post, Vanna talks of their shared adventures on and off the set. She begins by saying that she was very “green” and that Pat was instrumental in helping her feel at ease in front of the cameras. They traveled the world while filming 8,000 episodes and had hundreds of shared meals. Vanna’s favorite part of the partnership was the family moments outside the studio. The two raised their families and shared many moments together.
As she begins speaking her final words to Pat Sajak, Vanna White cannot stop the emotions pouring from her soul. Her voice wavers and tears form in her eyes. She tells him he is like a brother to her and is a true lifelong friend. Her goodbye message ends with, “I love you, Pat.”
