A little girl named Kennedy has been through quite a trying time recently. In March, this sweet girl came down with a case of Influenza B. Although she got better, just a week later, she complained of severe eye pain. This pain increased to the point that she was taken to the hospital. Here, she was diagnosed with an incredibly unusual case of necrotizing fasciitis. Even the most experienced doctors were baffled at how this could be possible, especially since she didn’t have any wounds or open cuts.
Eventually, though, they came to a conclusion that makes the most sense. At some point, Strep A got in Kennedy’s blood, somehow causing the necrotizing fasciitis. As a result, this little girl has had six surgeries to remove the bacteria. Now, she’ll also need reconstructive surgery for the large cavity in her face. Through it all, though, Kennedy has remained strong. Her mom, Meghan Mayer, also shares their journey on social media. Here, folks are learning all about Kennedy. The package containing the 1989 cardigan also included stickers and a sweet message full of references to Swift’s music. Kennedy had no idea what the package had in store, and her reaction is absolutely priceless!
What an unforgettable random act of kindness for Kennedy to experience during such a difficult time in her life. I also can’t imagine how relieving it is for Meghan to get the chance to see her child smile amidst so much pain.
