Having a beloved pet go missing is every pet parent’s nightmare. Once you’ve taken all the steps you can to get your four-legged friend back home, all you can do at that point is wait. And that wait can be excruciatingly long and painful. Tiffany Bates recently went through this when her cat, Reno, somehow got outside and never came back home. Her husband, who also loves the cat dearly, couldn’t stand to wait inside for his return.
Instead, he chose to go outside. Even though it was late, he made himself a little sleeping station outside. That way, if Reno did come back in the middle of the night, he’d be likely to see his human Dad and cuddle up next to him.
Husband Camps Outside for Missing Cat
Needless to say, this sweet gesture absolutely melts Tiffany’s heart. While her husband sleeps, she stays inside, still awake. Then, around midnight, she hears a knock at the front door.
Turns out, her husband’s plan couldn’t have turned out better. When Reno spots him, he walks right over to his pillow, causing him to wake up. From there, the two of them head back inside.
Tiffany’s husband goes right back to sleep while she and Reno cuddle for a bit. As worried as they were, it seems that their adorable feline couldn’t be less aware of the chaos his absence has caused.
“He acted as if nothing had happened after being gone for almost 14 hours,” Tiffany says.
Isn’t that always the way? In any case, Tiffany and her husband couldn’t be more grateful to have Reno back home!
“Husband/cat dad of the year,” Tifanny says, adding “Just one of the many times I’m thankful for my excessive husband.”
