Sylvester Stallone Gives the Most Dad Reason for Continuing to Work

Sylvester Stallone Daughter

Sylvester Stallone has had an incredibly successful career in Hollywood. He wrote and starred in Rocky, which made him a bona fide star in the 1970s. He’s continued working steadily for more than 50 years and, at 80 years old, could easily retire. But Sly said he has to keep working in order to afford his daughter’s wedding. During a recent appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark, Kelly got straight to business and asked Sylvester Stallone how much his daughter’s wedding cost.

“Oh, man, it’s almost embarrassing to say, but I can’t retire,” Sylvester sheepishly admitted. “I can’t retire.”

Sylvester Stallone’s Daughter Has Found Quite a Catch

Sylvester Stallone told Kelly that his daughter’s fiancé, Michael Sheehan, is a “great guy” who went about the proposal in a very traditional way. “He actually asked for her hand,” Sylvester said with a smile.

Mark Consuelos joked with Sylvester Stallone, asking if his daughter’s proposal was anything like his character in Rocky.

“Did he say to you, ‘I wanna know if you wouldn’t mind if I married your daughter so much?’”

“I was wonderin’ if, uh, you wouldn’t mind marryin’ me very much,” is Rocky’s line to Adrian in the classic film Rocky II.

Sylvester joked back with the next line in the movie, “I won’t leave no hair in the sink.”

He added that he really likes Michael and told him that he’s got his work cut out for him marrying Sophia.

“I went, ‘Wow, good luck, pal,’” he joked. “But my wife had to be there to be referee.”

Sophia shared the news of her engagement on Instagram at the end of August, and her family immediately posted congratulations

“YAYYYAYY MY FAVORITE PEOPLE!!!!! Crying! So happy,” her sister Sistine Stallone wrote.
I love you both!!!”

Sister Scarlett Stallone wrote, “THE MOST BEAUTIFUL FIANCÉES!!!!!!!”

“I’m so happy for you both! Thrilled Michael is joining our family!” Sophia’s mom Jennifer Flavin Stallone wrote.
