Bryan Cranston Shares Beautiful Dedication to TV Son

Bryan Cranston

Even though our favorite TV families are made up of people who sometimes begin as total strangers, they often endear themselves to one another off set. The actors support one another through hardships and celebrate their victories. When they lose a castmate, it can feel like losing a member of their family. Bryan Cranston, who played Walter White on “Breaking Bad,” shared a poignant dedication to RJ Mitte, who played his television son, Walter White Jr., on the show. He passed away on October 12, 2026, leaving behind family and friends who will miss him terribly.

“I met him when he was only 14 years old when he was cast as Walter White Jr., a part he played with such joy and enthusiasm,” Bryan wrote on Facebook. “Born with Cerebral Palsy, he never – ever – allowed that challenge to be an excuse for anything. He met the demanding shooting schedule head-on with great determination. Always listening to the advice that his TV parents (Anna Gunn and myself) gave him – but being a teenager, sometimes mischievously ignoring the counsel in order to learn the hard way… He was one of the stars of a hit TV show – but still a kid.”

RJ Mitte Inspired Bryan Cranston

Bryan Cranston found himself in awe of RJ Mitte as he grew as an actor and an advocate.

“He parlayed his experience on the show to be a vocal advocate for performers with disabilities and was the head of a philanthropic organization with a focus on helping the disabled community,” he wrote.

Bryan Cranston’s message touched fans who could feel his genuine love for RJ.

“This is so beautifully written. You can tell it’s not a script but your actual feelings. Sending love throughout this darkness,” someone wrote.

This fan agreed, sharing, “Very sorry for your loss. He was a great actor and advocate for disabled people. I’m sad that he died so young.”
