Flamenco Dance Competition Finalists Show Off Their Moves In Virtual Performance.

This year, many of the world’s biggest festivals and events will look a bit different.

Old Spanish Days Fiesta is an all volunteer-run festival in Santa Barbara, California that has been held annually since 1924! In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, most of the performances will be moved online and there will be no large gatherings or crowds, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be great!

The festival celebrates and honors “Santa Barbara’s history, spirit, culture, heritage, and traditions.” Thousands of people usually travel from all over the world to attend, and it’s actually considered to be one of the most popular regional festivals in the U.S.

“Old Spanish Days Fiesta is not only a unique forum for the cultural expression of our diversity, but it also provides a vehicle for the nonprofit and community service groups to raise funds for local charities and social service organizations,” Old Spanish Days Fiesta wrote on Facebook.

This year’s event will be held from August 5 to August 9, and we can hardly wait!

To help us be patient, Sophia Cordero, who won the 2019 “Spirit of Fiesta” dance competition, put together a compilation of the 2020 finalists, and it’s sure to get your toes tapping.

The video features all the “Spirit of Fiesta” finalists who are competing online this year. Each of them wears a traditional Spanish flamenco outfit and performs to a flamenco-style song.

Even better, Sophia edited everyone together in such a way that each dancer appears to toss their traditional shawl or hat to the next performer as they finish their part. She couldn’t have chosen a better way to honor this year’s theme, which is “¡Vamos a Bailar!”or “Let’s Dance!â€

Clearly, nothing can take away from the spirit of this Fiesta! We may be socially distant, but we can always find ways to connect if we think outside the box.

See the finalists in action in the video below, and don’t forget to share this story with your friends.
