Charles Spencer Admitted His Greatest Regret When It Comes To Princess Diana
Charles Spencer and Princess Diana certainly didn’t have the same kind of life as most people, but when she was gone, his regret was a familiar one. “Could I have done more to help her with her public life? I probably could,” he told People.
At the end of the day, Charles Spencer was Diana’s brother, and family looks out for each other. He admitted that he could have been more helpful.
“Towards the end of her life, I did help her a bit,” he said. “I had had some run-ins with the media. I helped her win a big libel case against a British newspaper. I would fight some battles for her quietly.”
Charles Spencer also wanted to clear up a decades-long rumor that he didn’t give Princess Diana a place to live following her divorce. He said that while he wanted her and the boys to be nearby, the living space was not safe for such high-profile individuals.
“The local police went around there with me, and they said, they just couldn’t protect William and Harry,” Charles said. “She could not have lived at the Garden House. It was not a viable option.”
