Just two days after Hannah and Mark’s daughter, Sofia, was born, the new mom unexpectedly passed away. Mark shared a tribute to Hannah and their baby girl on Instagram on September 24, 2026.

“I am shattered. Her dream was to become a Mum, so it’s been incredibly difficult to take. Thank you for all of your messages of support. I can’t always reply to them all but I do appreciate them,” Mark Hutchings wrote. “Sofia and I love you and will miss you very much, Hannah.”

Mark Hutchings’ news came as a total shock to those who knew Hannah. Even strangers learning of her death so shortly after birth felt compelled to wish Mark and Sofia well.

A former coworker shared a lovely tribute to Hannah. “I had the privilege of working with Hannah during her time in the Pilbara. She was a joy to be around, a skilled nurse and genuinely beautiful person. My condolences to you, Sofia, and your families at the most difficult time for you all. She has certainly left a mark on this world far and wide and will always be remembered as a remarkable woman.”
This person wants Mark Hutchings to know that in time, his heart will begin to heal. “You don’t know me, but I know you from playing for the Eagles. I’m so gutted for you and Sofia on the loss of Hannah, she will be your baby girl’s guardian angel for life,” they lovingly wrote.
