Most parents would admit they miss their kids just a little bit when they go off to college. While they say “distance makes the heart grow fonder,” a cardboard cutout of yourself can help too.

When Dalton Ross went off to London to study abroad, he jokingly sent a life-size cardboard cutout of himself to his mom.
Ross told A Plus, “I just thought sending a life-size cutout of me unannounced to my mom would give my family a laugh. I thought maybe they’d put it in the living room corner until I got back to remember I exist.â€
The cutout was accompanied by a blithely simple note: “You’re welcome.”
As it turns out, Ross’s mom Susan Talley had something much better in mind.
