John Stamos is the kind of guy who likes to think he can do just about anything and do it well. He’s been entertaining fans on stage and screen for decades in Hollywood and continues to play music with his beloved Beach Boys. When he became a dad, John’s life changed tremendously, and so did his priorities. In August 2026, John Stamos and his son, Billy, announced their upcoming children’s book Love from Above: A Story of Tiny Birds and Their Big Meaning. The book helps explain how our loved ones are always with us even after death.

John Stamos is Very Proud of His New Book
John Stamos and Billy wanted their new book to share a story that’s very important to their family.
“In my family, hummingbirds have always meant something more,” John Stamos told People. “After my dad passed, I remember my mom standing in his garden, watching a hummingbird zip by and quietly saying, ‘That’s him.’ From then on, hummingbirds became little reminders that the people we love never really leave us.”
John Stamos explained that story to Billy, and his little boy retained it.
“Years later, Billy saw two hummingbirds in our yard and said, ‘Dad, look! That’s Grandma Retta and Papa Bill,’” he said. “And just like that, the idea for this book was born.”
John Stamos said he hopes the book he and Billy wrote can help other kids dealing with hard times.
“Kids lose grandparents, pets, people they love, and it can feel so final,” John added. “But maybe love doesn’t disappear — maybe love finds new ways to remind us it’s still here.”
