Maya Neelakantan decided to vie for the $1 million cash prize this season. And during her audition, which airs on tonight’s episode (June 25), she proved that she will be one of the top contenders.

Maya performed a rendition of Papa Roach’s Last Resort that could put Jerry Horton out of work. The seemingly “shy” kid began her audition with a slow, relaxing build. Then she lit up as she jumped into the recognizable music.

Once Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara, and Simon Cowell realized what was happening, their jaws dropped, and they were enthralled right through the end.

“Your energy, your confidence—a perfect audition,” Sophia raved after Maya’s grand finale.

Maya Neelakantan’s “AGT” Audition Was A “Viral Moment”

Howie Mandel was so impressed that he could hardly speak, and he predicted that the audition would become a “viral moment” for Maya.

Heidi praised the young girl for being “gusty” enough to get on stage and show off her talents. She also spoke for the entire auditorium when she said everyone loved the performance.

“You should be very, very proud of yourself,” she added.

Simon admitted that the guitar “is one of the most difficult instruments in the world,” and he once tried to master it but failed. So he was immensely impressed by how well she played at only 10.

“What I love about this audition—we just weren’t expecting this. You were so shy, and you’re only 10, and then you turned into like this rock goddess.”

Maya, who noted that Adam Jones from Tool and Gary Holt from Exodus are her inspirations, easily made it to the live shows, which means she has a chance of becoming the Season 19 winner.

Watch Maya’s entire audition when America’s Got Talent airs tonight on NBC at 7/8C.
