80+ Yr Olds At Retirement Home Make Music Video To Show Kids What They’re Made Of.

At the end of 2013, Pharrell Williams released a new song titled “Happy” with a 24-hour music video. In this single shot music video, viewers are taken throughout the day in the life of Los Angeles residents. Everyone from locals to celebrities are filmed going throughout their day and dancing to the upbeat and catchy tune of “Happy.”

This music video was groundbreaking not only for it’s unique 24-hour long performance, but also because it went on to inspire people all around the world to create their own “Happy” music video. People gathered in cities on every continent and in workplaces from corporate to retail to showcase their dancing and video talents.

One group that definitely did not want to miss out on all of the fun was the staff and residents at Diana Isaac Retirement Village in Christchurch, New Zealand. Combining the efforts of sixty talented people, they were able to create this incredibly fun and silly music video to present to their families.

Throughout the video, you see residents dancing throughout the halls, activity areas, and the grounds of the retirement village. From silly dance moves to cannonballs into a pool, the residents pull out all of the stops, all while featuring an older gentleman who has adorable dance moves complete with a fashionable hat!

Not wanting to miss out on all of the fun, many of the staff of the retirement village join in at certain points of the music video. From construction workers dancing around the upkeep of the grounds to even a chef in the kitchen kneading dough, no one can keep from smiling and laughing.

The most refreshing part of the whole music video is the fact that everyone featured is fully comfortable in their own bodies. They are smiling, goofing off, and fully performing for the camera. This is the type of confidence you don’t find too often, but when you do it is an amazing reminder to hold your head up high and own who you are.
