Struggling Military Wife Brought To Her Knees When Repairman Left This Note For Her.

A local repairman from Pensilvania just showed the world what a true act of kindness looks like.

Bridget Stevens’ husband, Bobby, is in the National Guard and deployed away from home. So she has the entire house to take care of by herself.

Thus, it was not a good feeling to return to her house one day without heat and totally freezing.

She quickly called the repairman, like anyone would do, but what the call led to was incredible. On the other line was Paul Betlyn. The owner of Moon Township’s Betlyn Heating and Cooling, Paul clearly has a huge heart.

The repairs for Bridget’s house normally cost about $150, but this kind man lent his services for just $1! Paul said that he was giving the “deployment discount.”

“He said that the $1 was a joke and to thank my husband for his service,”Bridget Stevens wrote in a since-deleted Facebook post that has gone viral.

Bridget was absolutely stunned.  The kind gesture could not have come at a better time.

The reason Paul even knew about Stevens’ situation is that Paul personally drove over to her house, way past normal working hours.

“As he was working on the furnace, we got to talking about Bobby and the deployment,”Stevens wrote. “I had mentioned in passing that I tried to figure it out with my husband, but since he’s deployed and couldn’t see it, he wouldn’t know what to do.â€

Clearly there was some work to be done – and Bridget was totally helpless without some experienced help… But her worry turned into complete gratitude.  “I was completely overwhelmed and in shock when Paul handed me the slip,”Stevens told ABC News. “I didn’t really know what to say, and I still have a hard time finding the words to truly express my appreciation.â€

Paul put it very simply and plainly that he was only carrying on a family tradition.

“My grandfather was a milkman during the Great Depression and many times he’d go to the door and the woman didn’t have any money for milk. But the baby was crying in the background. So he’d put the milk on the table,”Betlyn told ABC News. “And when I heard about Bridget with her husband being deployed…I put the milk on the table.â€

Paul is now the head of the “Military Deployment Kisses Fund†on gofundme.com, with the goal of raising money to send families overseas to meet with loved ones during lengthy deployments. He’s raised nearly $1,500 in three days.
