You can tell how excited and happy the children are to be so close to their hero. They are beaming as they join together in perfect harmony to perform her 2007 hit, “So Small.â€

But the real surprise happens when a young boy and girl, with powerful voices far beyond their years, take over the third verse. Their clearly well-rehearsed duet leaves Carrie momentarily speechless!

On the PS22 Chorus blog, teacher and piano player Gregg Breinberg writes:

“Our personal favorite moment comes at the conclusion of the second verse, when Kahlil and Kiarah get together for a gorgeous duet on the second verse, and Carrie, obviously lost in the moment, almost forgets to come in on the refrain!â€

Carrie Underwood has won more Grammys than you can count on one hand. But Public School 22 — better known as PS22 — are no strangers to fame, either. Since Gregg founded the chorus in 2000, the students have sung for such musical luminaries as Tori Amos, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga and performed “Over The Rainbow”at the 83rd Academy Awards in 2011.
