Some thought President Donald Trump might have an informal meeting with King Charles during a recent visit to Scotland, but it didn’t pan out that way. According to People, he did meet with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer and was complimentary about the monarchy.

“Being with Charles, Camilla, and everybody, I’ve got to know a lot of the family members. They are great people. They are really great people,” President Trump said of King Charles and his wife.
“In that sense, I think the U.K. is very lucky. You could have people that weren’t great people,” he added. “I don’t know if I can say that, but you could have people that weren’t.”
Prior to King Charles Taking The Throne, President Trump Met Queen Elizabeth
President Trump made a state visit to meet Queen Elizabeth during his first term in the summer of 2019. Following the queen’s passing, President Trump shared condolences with King Charles and his family.
Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,” the president shared on social media. “Together with our family and fellow Americans, we send our sincere condolences to the Royal Family and the people of the United Kingdom during this time of great sorrow and grief.”
President Trump praised the queen’s accomplishments.
“Queen Elizabeth’s historic and remarkable reign left a tremendous legacy of peace and prosperity for Great Britain. Her leadership and enduring diplomacy secured and advanced alliances with the United States and countries around the world,” he added. “However, she will always be remembered for her faithfulness to her country and her unwavering devotion to her fellow countrymen and women.”
King Charles invited President Trump for an unprecedented second state visit. A palace aide confirmed the news to CNN.
“His Majesty has known President Trump for many years and looks forward to hosting him and the first lady later this year,” a palace aide shared with the news outlet.
It’s unclear when the president and king will meet again, but we’re sure the world will be watching.
