At 72, Wisdom the albatross knows what she wants and how to get it! She’s the oldest wild bird in the world, but she’s not letting that hold her back. This December, Wisdom was seen looking for love at Midway Atoll. Bird expert Kaeli Swift on TikTok tells us that the elderly albatross “was observed participating in mating dances this year.” I guess we know what this bird’s New Year’s resolution is!
According to the caption on Kaeli’s video, Wisdom the albatross has been frequenting the location to breed since 1956. Researchers estimate that Wisdom the Albatross is at least 70 years old. She was with the same life partner for 60 years, but he hasn’t been seen since 2021. Although she surely misses him, it looks like the oldest wild bird in the world is finally ready to move on! TikTok users are rooting for Wisdom the albatross in her search for a new partner.
“She’s putting herself back out there!” wrote one commenter. “Glad to hear it.”
“No but why am I crying?” said another.
We’re also wishing this bird the best of luck as she continues to look for love! Let’s hope that Wisdom the albatross finds a partner who impresses her more than this unfortunate suitor.
