Kids: you just never know what they’re going to do to make you laugh out loud, but you can rest assured that they’ll think of something.
Stay-at-home mom Marika Daniels of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, is more than familiar with this concept. Her three sons Levi, 4, Logan, 3, and Landon, 18 months, keep her busy — and laughing — each and every day. Things were no different on a recent trip to Brookings, South Dakota, where her youngest proved to be a budding comedian with a knack for physical humor.
The family spent the day at a children’s museum in Brookings, and while they were there the boys had a blast “fishing” for plastic fish in the museum’s pond. Each boy used their little pole to reel in their fish, and by the end of the afternoon, they were grinning and happily displaying their catch of the day.
When Marika lined the kids up for a picture to capture the moment, Levi and Logan happily held up their faux-fish and smiled obediently. Landon, however… not so much.
“When I saw it I was like, ‘Ugh, Landon,'” said Marika. “He’s just at that age where he puts everything in his mouth. They are rubber fish. They’re not real fish. After I saw the picture I said, ‘Oh my gosh, this is actually kind of funny’ — and apparently everyone else thought so too.”
People definitely thought it was funny. As soon as Marika shared it online the image began to circulate, often with the caption, “Every family has that one kid.” Before long it had reached true meme status and people were even recreating the picture with their own siblings!
(Let’s hope those are plastic fish as well, but somehow we doubt it.)
Marika says that she has been blown away by the picture’s viral trajectory, but she’s thrilled that the image made so many people around the world smile. “I originally posted it on my Facebook and my friends were saying how funny and cute [it was],” she explained. “It just spread like wildfire.”
Talk about a once-in-a-lifetime photograph! This is the sort of picture that instantly makes people smile, so it’s terrific that Marika shared it with the world. We hope this meme sticks around long enough to thoroughly embarrass Logan when he’s older. It’s only fair.
If this picture made you laugh, please share this story to spread the joy!
