One little boy made his mom’s wedding unforgettable by surprising his new stepdad with an adoption proposal! With his mother’s help, 8-year-old Sebastian delivered the sweetest speech on the couple’s special day. In it, he explained how happy he was to finally have a father in his life. The bride’s sister caught the most beautiful video of her nephew’s words, and it’s been going viral on social media!
“I have waited 3,188 days for this day, because since the day I was born, I have lived without a father,” Sebastian said, reading his speech aloud from a piece of paper. “Not including my grandpa that has grown to be my best friend.”
At this point in his adoption proposal, the little boy began to tear up. He took a moment to collect himself while his family boosted his confidence back up with their encouraging words. Eventually, Sebastian was able to continue with his speech.
“Since day one, I love you, Robert,” the young boy said to his new dad. “Thank you for your influence, love, support, and presence in my life.”
He continued, “I feel so lucky to stand by your side as you marry the love of your life, who’s actually the first love of my life.”
As his speech came to a close, guests began to applaud. However, Sebastian wasn’t done yet. He’d said some powerful words, but he hadn’t gotten to the most important part: the adoption proposal!
Before the little boy popped the question, he presented his new dad with a beautiful gift box. Inside were a variety of thoughtful, fatherhood-themed items. For example, the groom unpacked a t-shirt that read, “I’m not the stepdad, I’m the dad that stepped up.” Among the presents, though, there was also a piece of paper. As the new father read the contents, the little boy finally delivered his adoption proposal.
“Will you adopt me?” he asked.
Without hesitation, the groom said yes! Everyone cheered as dad and son gave each other the warmest hug.
After this beautiful moment, the two posed for photos. The bride’s sister caught another adorable video of the groom saying, “Hurry, ’cause I’m not good at holding my cries in!”
