Mariska Hargitay emotionally shared her memories of the late Robin Williams during a recent interview.

The actress sat with Vanity Fair earlier this week and recalled the moving experience of meeting the Patch Adams star on the set of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 2008. Robin guest starred as a vigilante named Merritt Rook in a Season 9 episode titled Authority.

“To watch flow happening — that which is invisible — he was the personification of it,” she said of his acting in a TikTok video posted on May 23. “He was magnificent. Different every time, funny every time, and truthful and believable.”

“And what is happening?” she asked of the experience. “How am I so lucky that I get to witness it? It was magic. Everything was electric with him. Like there was no line between sort of acting and who he was as a person.”

“And the most fun person and the most generous, and it was pure joy,” Mariska added.

Mariska Hargitay Feels Lucky To Have Known Robin Williams

The actress brought her eldest son, August, who was around 3 at the time, to the set that day. He had a chance to meet the Silver Screen legend as well. Mariska Hargitay said watching Robin interact with August was a “special” experience.

“Robin grabbed him and picked him up and so kind and doing voices for him. He made all of us feel so special,” she said, visibly choked.

“You’re just in this moment going, ‘I’m pinching myself that I get to live in the same time with somebody so magnetic and so magic and so generous’ that you go, ‘I’m just different because we got to breathe, same oxygen,” she said. “It was pretty great.”

Robin Williams took his own life on August 11, 2014. He was 63.
