Everyone knows who Keanu Reeves is… now. But there was a time before he was a well-known movie star. During childhood, Keanu spent much time in his mom’s sewing shop and accompanied her to some in-home fitting appointments. In 1978, he met Dolly Parton, who was having a costume made for her iconic Playboy cover photoshoot. And that leads us to the bit where Keanu Reeves became a Playboy Bunny with Dolly Parton’s own costume.
Dolly Parton knew that the little boy had become a star but didn’t connect the dots until an introduction years later. During an interview on The Drew Barrymore Show, Drew asked Dolly if she knew Keanu had worn the outfit one year for Halloween. She had not, but reacted in a typical Dolly manner, saying, “Did he? Aw, that’s sweet. He’s great. He’s the sweetest guy.”
Unfortunately, there is no photographic evidence of the costume on Keanu. He discussed the costume on Jada Pinkett Smith’s talk show. They were answering fan questions about what his favorite Halloween costume had been while he was growing up.
Keanu opened up, stating that his mom had designed the iconic Playboy outfit for Dolly, but that it had never gone home with Dolly. So, one Halloween, Keanu relates, “I put on the ears and the bustier. I wore sneakers with fishnet stockings and the bowtie. I had some pretty long hair, and I was Dolly Parton’s Playboy Bunny.”

We’re going to guess that Dolly wore it better. She recreated the outfit recently to celebrate her husband’s 79th birthday. She and Carl have been married for 57 years! During a recent interview on Inside Edition, Dolly opened up that her husband was struggling medically. She stated she would be taking some time off to spend time with and care for him.
