Times continue to change, and so do the habits and attitudes of younger generations. “Today” show host Jenna Bush Hager has lovingly referred to herself as a “geriatric millennial.” At 44, she’s finding herself a bit disconnected from the Gen-Z crowd, whom she called out during a recent segment on “Today.” According to an expert, Gen-Z job candidates apparently bring along their iced coffees to job interviews, which stunned the former first daughter. Jenna Bush Hager called the iced coffee Gen-Z’s pacifier, and the internet had big thoughts.

Jenna Bush Hager’s Pacifier Analogy Was a Hit with Many People
The comment section knew exactly what Jenna Bush Hager meant when she called the iced coffee a pacifier. It seems that younger people bring their drinks along as an emotional comfort, which has certainly been taboo for older generations. The recruiter explained that bringing an iced coffee into an interview leaves the impression that this part of your day is just checking something off the list. It doesn’t give the person conducting the interview a very professional impression.
Many thought Jenna and the recruiter were on to something.
“I agree. Leave the drinks outside of the interview. But I’m 5,” someone commented.
Others don’t see it as a big deal.
“I’m Gen Z. Did I go to my interviews with iced coffee in hand? No. But do I think it matters if I did? Also no. If you’re qualified and the best person for the job, what does it matter if you had an iced coffee with you or not. It’s the same discussion with tattoos or piercings 20 years ago,” another person shared.
