Incredible Satellite Images Capture Lightning in Hurricane Isaias Eyewall

Hurricane Isaias

As Hurricane Isaias continues to gain strength, meteorologists keep a very close eye on the situation. The storm showuld make landfall on October 9, 2026, in the Florida panhandle. Isaias is the first storm of the hurricane season, and it’s bringing something very unusual along with it – lightning. According to KOMO, having lightning with a hurricane is much rarer then a typical storm because the freezing level is much higher. With a thick warm layer, it’s more difficult for water droplets, ice crystals, and graupel to collide to create the electrical charge necessary for lightning.

“If you live in the storm’s path, take ten minutes today to walk your family through the plan: where you would go, what you would grab, and who you would call. Follow your local emergency officials for orders,” someone suggested.

This person agreed, writing, “Good reminder to finish prep this morning: fuel up, some cash, phones charged, and a plan for where the family meets if power and cell go down. Stay calm. Watch on.”
