“I’m A Server And The Note My Guests Left Me Has Me Sobbing Mid-Shift”

Working in customer service is not for everyone. The hours tend to be all over the place, and dealing with unhappy patrons can really take a toll. That said, every once in a while, certain guests leave a lasting impact in the very best, and most unexpected, ways. Katie Miller had one of these moments, and it had her “sobbing mid-shift.”

What would have her in tears like that? Well, it all started when the server noticed a note left by guests who had just finished their meal. It’s not entirely unheard of for someone like Katie to get a note in this way, but nothing could have prepared her for what it would reveal about the couple she just served. “You probably reminded them of her,” someone points out in reply to Katie’s post. Others add, “Crying once again ugh my heart aches for this couple but bursts knowing you made such an impact on them” and “We really never know what people are going through.”

Our lives can get so hectic, we forget that everyone else has their own struggles, too. When we do keep this in mind, it becomes a lot easier to have patience and to be kind to others. None of us are perfect, but Katie’s post is a reminder that a little kindness can go a long way.

Other servers attest that, while the work can be daunting, it also has rewarding moments, too. So, the next time you get the chance to make someone’s day a bit brighter, why not take it?
