“Don’t Give Up On Your Passions” When Boy Gets Bullied For Crocheting, Kind Stranger Reaches Out With Powerful Message

A two-photo collage. The first shows a little boy holding yarn in his hands to show the camera. The second image shows four crochet creatures. Text on the image reads: So, I thought I'd show him some of the stuff I've made

There’s nothing quite like the spark of joy you see in someone when they’re doing something they’re passionate about. For this woman’s son, that includes crocheting some of the cutest and coolest creatures you’ve ever seen. As you can imagine, Mom couldn’t be more proud of him. Not only has he discovered something he loves, but he managed to learn this skill by his own accord. Then, one day, a bully’s harsh words about his crochet hobby changed everything.

As Mom explains it on TikTok, her son came home from school, insisting that he never go back. After a bit of coaxing, she learned about the bullying he endured. This sweet kid took their words to heart, going so far as to throw away his yarn. Mom saved the yarn, but the damage had been done. She reached out to caring folks on TikTok to remind her son of why he shouldn’t let the bullies keep him down… and they did!

“Don’t give up on your passions, little man,” someone named Steven writes in his response video above. “I’ve seen some of your work. You got talent!”

In no time, countless folks flooded this mom with videos, comments, and messages. Many of them are from men who also crochet, reminding her son that hobbies aren’t gendered. They did this through their kind words and by sharing all of the incredibly cool stuff they’ve been able to make thanks to their impressive skills.

When a Bully Makes Fun of a Little Boy’s Crochet Hobby, Strangers Have His Back

Although it’s unclear if the little boy has seen Steven’s video in particular, he has seen many of these kind responses. Below, he reacts to a particularly popular crochet account.

Despite getting bullied, the little boy is starting to rediscover his spark of joy thanks to the kindness of strangers. In fact, he had a very exciting announcement to make in a recent video his Mom shared.

“I haven’t crocheted in a while, but I’m willing to give it another try,” this talented boy announced!

Not everyone is going to understand the things we love and are passionate about. But just like all of these kind strangers have shown this sweet kid, that’s a reflection on them, not you. So, let this be a reminder that the words of a bully should never dictate how we live our lives!
