Golden retrievers run the gamut when it comes to coordination. There are some who can do anything and some who seem challenged drinking water. In a hilarious video, Faye shows us her dog’s Airbud audition. To say that she nailed the audition would be a lie of colossal proportions.

Catching a tennis ball requires some coordination. When Faye drops the ball gently for her pup, we were expecting the dog to catch it in the air. That didn’t happen. She allowed the ball to bounce. Then she lunged in the opposite direction, taking a healthy bite out of empty air.
Recovering quickly, she altered course and tried to grab the ball on the second bounce. It landed in her mouth, and we thought she had it. Nope. It bounced right back out because she forgot to close her mouth on the ball. The golden has some serious coordination issues. The ball skitters out of frame, and the clip ends, leaving us in suspense. We may never know if the dog ever got the ball. However, it did not stop her from catching a much-needed nap after all the activity.
This clip proves that not all goldens are equal. After flubbing her Airbud audition, Faye’s dog might be joining the ranks with Magic, awaiting demotion to silver retriever. It’s obvious that Faye’s dog feels none of the embarrassment that this dog felt. She doesn’t care that the world saw her flub the catch twice and totally flop the Airbud audition.
If getting a golden retriever is in your future, hopefully, you’ll get one that can catch a ball. Dogs love playing fetch, but it’s even better when they can catch the ball and bring it back.
