Deployed Dad Meets Baby Girl For 1st Time In Tear-Jerking Video.

Being absent on birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and other special events is just one of the sacrifices our men and women in uniform make when they deploy overseas, often for months longer than expected. For a husband and expectant father, it’s especially heart-wrenching to miss out on the final months of his wife’s pregnancy, never mind the actual birth of a son or daughter.

He may not have been there for his daughter’s birth, but an unnamed soldier who returned from a five-month deployment to Afghanistan, got just as emotional when he met her face-to-face for the first time.

The video opens with the soldier’s wife already wiping away tears as she waits for her husband at a Sacramento airport. In her arms, she cradles her newborn daughter, dressed in a red-and-white checkered dress, a white bow tied around her head, sleeping and completely oblivious to the drama that’s about to unfold.

Seconds later, the soldier comes into view among a swarm of other passengers, a broad smile already stretched across his face. How can he keep from breaking into a run?

He and his wife are overcome with emotion as they embrace, then he gazes down lovingly at his baby girl: “She’s so tiny,”he says, his voice filled with wonder.

Finally, after five long months, he’s able to hold his baby girl, who’s just about as long as his forearm, and plant a gentle kiss on her sweet face.
