Costco Members Finally See Changes At The Gas Stations

Costco members know they can ease the pain at the pump by filling up at their local club store. Gas at Costco is typically cheaper than a regular retail gas station, but you must be a member to enjoy the benefits. The warehouse club recently increased its gas pump operating hours, which proved a financially savvy move.

According to Fox Business, during a recent earnings call, Costco CEO Rob Vachris reported “two of our all-time highest gallon weeks” during the month of April. He attributed the success to a” combination of expanded gas station hours, new gas station openings, and lower prices at the pump.” 

Costco Operates Hundreds Of Clubs And Gas Stations Across The United States

Costco gas pumps operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Hours vary in the states of California and Hawaii.

Rob Vachris said during the earnings call that increasing the gas pump hours proved crucial to Costco customers. He said it “was a great indicator that the throughput for our members improved nicely, and we saw that immediately in gallon increases.” 

According to the Costco website, the company’s Kirkland Signature Gasoline is good for customers’ vehicles.

“Kirkland Signature™ Gasoline contains five times the EPA detergent requirement in both regular unleaded and premium grades, and is formulated to clean your engine and help your vehicle run like new,” the website explains.

“As our valued member, you expect Costco to always offer the finest quality products at the best possible price. Our fuel is no exception. Costco has closely studied fuel additives and engine deposits and conducted extensive engine tests at nationally-recognized laboratories. Accordingly, we decided to increase the detergent additives in our fuel to provide a better value to our members.”
