As we have seen time and time again on the Ellen show, Ellen DeGeneres loves surprising her guests. Oftentimes, the surprises are sweet, kindhearted, and even emotional. But when Ellen had Celine Dion on the show, she gave her a surprise that wasn’t exactly a sweet gift… More like a clever challenge!
“You sing these ballads all the time” says Ellen to Celine in the video, posted this morning. “But I want you to keep growing as an artist!” That’s when Ellen tells Celine that she’ll be singing popular rap songs on the spot for the audience and the cameras. Celine looks incredulous, and double checks that Ellen doesn’t want to hear anything more classical, but Ellen has made up her mind. “Lets’ go!”
What comes next is absolutely hilarious. The legendary singer goes from a LMFAO and Lil Jon song to Britney Spears to Missy Elliot. She even throws a little SIA in there off the cuff! She takes the hip hop lyrics and sings them in her signature style, somehow sounding both hilarious and beautiful! The best part, though, might be her dance moves as she sings to Britney Spears. She acts embarrassed by the challenge, but it looks like she’s having a great time!
