Spring training for America’s favorite game is underway in the South. Teams are practicing their trade during Grapefruit League play. Typically, this is a time to check out new players and get veteran players back in game mode. One of the main goals is for teams to learn to work together to win ball games. The relaxed atmosphere doesn’t usually result in a baseball fight between two brothers. However, that did happen during this game between the New York Mets and the Houston Astros.

Unlike most baseball fights, this one didn’t occur on the field. The players didn’t empty the dugouts, racing to defend their teammates. Gameplay continued during the entire knock-down-drag-out fight between the two brothers. The laughing boys fought on “The Hill,” where many families view the games. The announcers (Keith Hernandez, Steve Gelbs, and Ron Darling) began running play-by-commentary on the fight while the baseball game continued.
We can’t blame them. The Mets were down 5-0 in the fifth inning. The Astros were at bat, threatening to add more runs. It was raining, and the brother’s fight presented a humorous distraction. The fight began with the younger brother chasing his big brother. Contact was made while a young girl watched (perhaps a sister?).
The Baseball Fight Commentary Was Hilarious
The commentators began by stating that the weather was perfect for kids. It was hot and raining, and the field would get muddy soon. When the fight began, it seemed like the little brother might have the upper hand. It wasn’t long before the older brother decided he’d had enough. He knocked the little guy onto his keister with a mighty shove.
Little bro pulled out some fancy karate moves, but big bro countered with a WWE move, picking him up and tossing him aside like a sack of potatoes.
Having three brothers of my own, I would like to assure you that brothers fight like this all the time. Since they were both laughing, it was evident that they were having fun. Mom stepped in to break it up when they got too rambunctious, but both boys continued to laugh. Wait until they discover that their baseball fight has made them internet stars!
