There are so many directions the best man can take his wedding speech. He could go the humorous route, of course, but he can also choose to share something more sweet and sentimental. From what I can tell, it seems that most speeches are a mixture of the two. That being said, Dylan Hannum chose to include a confessional in his best man speech for his brother.
To fully understand this story, we have to go back to when Dylan was around 8 years old. We don’t know the exact age of his brother, David, but we do know he’s older. When David’s friend, Mark, came over for a game of paintball, neither of them wanted to let Dylan join. Little did they know the trouble this would get them into.
In retaliation, Dylan chose to be mischievous. While his brother and Mark were gone, Dylan threw some of David’s paintballs at the neighbor’s house next door. As you can imagine, neither their parents or the neighbors were amused.
But here’s the thing: Nobody knew that Dylan did it, not even David and Mark. So, instead, David got in trouble. His punishment included cleaning the paintball residue off of their neighbor’s house. Ever since, the truth of who did this has been a mystery… until now.
Hilarious Confessional During Best Man Speech Stuns the Groom
A video captures the moment Dylan reveals his years long secret. As soon as David recognizes where his story is headed, his eyes grow wide as he exclaims, “No way!” From across the room, Mark, who they’re still friends with, joins in on expressing his disbelief over what they’re finally learning.
“I knew I was going to have to tell eventually but, boy, I was really wanting to watch TV that day,” Dylan admits. “So, I bring this up 20 years later, as a wedding gift to him for closure, that I’m the one who threw those paintballs. So, thank you for letting me watch TV that night.”
It seems that Dylan waited long enough for this confession because all David and Mark could do was laugh over this unexpected confession. There’s no competition when it comes to best man speeches, but if there were, Dylan would be the one to beat!
“I keep imagining how times have they thought about this story, while drinking and hanging out,” one person writes in the comment section. “And how many of those times, this younger brother was with them and said absolutely nothing until this day. This dude can keep a secret.”
