Bride Can’t Hold Back From “Ugly Crying” At Grandpa’s Beautiful Wedding Speech

A groom and bride hold onto each other by an arm. The bride looks up as she tries to hold back tears, lip quivering.

Weddings are such joyous, emotional days. From the beautiful ceremony to the heartwarming speeches, there’s so much to tear up about! Madeline Bourke’s big day was no different. Although she likely got emotional many times throughout the day, a particularly moving wedding speech might take the cake. It seems to take place during the ceremony, and it’s led by her dear grandpa.

As part of his speech, Grandpa chose to read a poem called A Blessing of the Hands. It’s believed to be Celtic in origin and focuses on the unique relationship a spouse plays in our lives, both through the good and bad times. To say that Madeline struggles to hold back tears would be an understatement.

Between Grandpa’s loving voice, Madeline holding back tears, and the couple holding onto one another, there’s just so much to love about this sweet moment! In fact, this now viral video has folks asking if Madeline’s grandpa is available to give a speech at their own wedding.

“Lost my papa this year,” one person shares in the comments. “You are so rich for having this moment captured so beautifully. Cherish every second.”

Grandpa’s Heartfelt Wedding Speech Has Us Emotional

As far as Madeline’s choice to try and fight back her tears goes, in hindsight, she playfully admits that might not have been the best decision.

“Should have just committed to the cry,” she admits.

In any case, there’s no doubt that both Madeline and her husband will carry this special moment with them in their hearts forever!
