With so many in quarantine because of the novel coronavirus, people around the world are trying to manage their kids while they work from home. Pet parents are in the same boat.

In a recent live report, weatherman Jeff Lyons of Evansville, Indiana, gave up on fighting his needy cat and let her join him on-screen. Naturally, everyone loved the special update, and now the Internet has dubbed her “Betty the Weather Cat.”

Since the first video aired, Jeff has suddenly found himself with countless new fans – only they’re asking for Betty instead of him. Thankfully, the cat dad has a good sense of humor!
In a Facebook post, he wrote, “W.C. Fields famously said: ‘Never work with kids and animals.’ I should heed that advice, but I think I’ve been replaced.”
Rather than try to fight his way back to the top, Jeff decided to fuel the Betty craze. He’s been bringing her along for various live reports and even hosted a Facebook Live Q and A session for her curious followers.

His news station even produced a video with a behind-the-scenes look at Betty’s career! She works from Jeff’s makeshift office, which is complete with lights, a green screen, a monitor, and everything else they need to report the weather.

As it turns out, Betty never intended to become famous; she simply enjoys soaking up the warmth of the lights. Whatever the reason, we’re glad she did! You can find more of our new favorite pet on Instagram.
