Massive Choir Has AGT Judges In A Trance With Moving Cover Of Toto’s “Africa.”

Some songs have the power to lift your spirits just by listening to them… and Toto’s “Africa,”is definitely one of them!

During a recent audition on “America’s Got Talent,”Los Angeles-based Angel City Chorale managed to elevate the already incredible song to a whole new level. The 160-member choir began their performance using just the sound made rubbing their hands together. Judges were intrigued when they then started snapping their fingers. By the time they were slapping their thighs, the entire audience was in on the act – and the choir hadn’t even started singing yet!

Everyone quickly realized they were mimicking the sounds of a growing thunderstorm!

Before their audition even started, however, Simon pointed out that a choir has never won “America’s Got Talent.”Confidently, Sue Fink, the group’s artistic director and conductor, pointed out that “they weren’t us.”She told the judges she founded the group “to bring together people of diverse backgrounds and build community when we make something beautiful together.â€

Getting the audience and judges in on their act is proof enough of that. Just watching how seamlessly all the individual members of the massive chorus work together is awe-inspiring!

After working up to thunder, produced by synchronized stomps and well-timed lighting changes, the group shifted into the opening of “Africa” and three soloists walked out.

After they’d wrapped their incredible performance, Simon gave the group a standing ovation!

He summed up the feeling among the judges very succinctly, saying the song and vocals meshed so well together that it flowed out to the entire audience and left him feeling there was “something magical” about it.

“That’s what great choirs can do … This a great audition. I’m gonna remember this for a long time. I’m thrilled.â€

Unsurprisingly, the choir made it through with four yeses. Listen and watch as that magic unfolds in the clip below, and share to spread the joy!
