This Needle Felted Barn Owl Looks Ready To Fly Off Its Perch

Felting has been used for centuries to mat wool fibers together. Needle felting is much newer. Rather than using water and soap like the older “wet felting” technique, felters use a special barbed needle. Needle felting offers more control over the final product and lends itself well to sculpting detailed pieces. Birdie and Blossom make and market craft kits, including a needle-felted Barn Owl in Flight.

I designed my Barn Owl in Flight needle felting kit with online tutorials and it continues to be one of my favourite projects. I even offer a service to pre-make the wire armature to help makers get started as soon as the kit arrives. I’d like to thank the makers who have kindly ordered this project and for sharing their wonderful results with me. I genuinely appreciate your support and I’m excited that another 50 kits will be released next week.
