3-Yr-Old With Down Syndrome Practices Positive Affirmations And It’s Just Plain Adorable.

A toddler with Down syndrome smiles wide as he lifts his hands into the air. Mom stands behind him and holds onto his wrists, helping him lift his arms in celebration.

When you’re a parent, all you want to do is keep your kid safe, happy, and healthy. That’s why it’s been so tough for Melanie Droubay to send her toddler, Huddy, to preschool. This is the first time he’ll be out in the world without her, something that’s stressful for any parent. But Melanie is open about the fact that, because Huddy has Down syndrome, she feels all-the-more protective.

Throughout his three years of life, Melanie says that she’s always been there to stand up for him, ensuring nothing bad happens to her sweet son. Still, she recognizes that she can’t always be with Huddy. With this in mind, Melanie has added positive affirmations into their morning routine.

Toddler With Down Syndrome Says Positive Affirmations for Kids Before Preschool

@ourhuddybuddy I cried when I took Huddy to his first day of preschool. I cried because it was the beginning of me not always being there with him… to protect him, to stand up for him, to make sure nothing happens to him. It was the beginning of sending him out into this world on his own. And it’s a little bit terrifying to do that, especially as a parent of a child with a disability. I know I can’t be with him forever. But…. I’m hoping that these daily affirmations we say together CAN be. I hope these words we say together every morning will always be there in the back of his mind, reminding him of how worthy, valued and loved he is. That even when I’m not there with him, he’ll be able to remember my voice saying: You are strong You are smart You are beautiful You are brave You are kind You are loved ❤️ #positiveaffirmations #positivetalk #downsyndrome #toddlerlife #downsyndromefamily #downsyndromeisbeautiful #differentisbeautiful #differentnotless #extrachromosome #lovedoesntcountchromosomes #advocatelikeamother #bepositive #dailyaffirmations #utahmom #utahlife #morealikethandifferent #changingperceptions #youaresmart #youarestrong #youarebrave #youarebeautiful #youarekind #youareworthy #youareloved #youareperfect ♬ A Gentle Sunlight – James Quinn

In order to inspire others, Melanie shared a video of their daily positive affirmations. In it, we see a smiling Huddy say simple yet empowering phrases like I am strong, I am smart, and I am beautiful. Mom’s goal is for these words, and the feelings associated with them, to stay with him throughout his day.
