Adorable Rescue Seal Celebrates 31st Birthday With Special Fish Cake.

We’re wishing a very happy birthday to a special seal who’s stealing hearts around the world!

Yulelogs was just a pup when he was found off the northern coast of England back in 1989. He spent years at the rescue, but when it closed, he was released back into the wild.

Unfortunately, Yulelogs had become so dependent on human care that he had no idea how to be a wild seal. He lost a frightening amount of weight and would often chase down beachgoers carrying buckets because he thought they had fish for him. Eventually, the RSPCA stepped in and found him a new home at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary.

He has lived there happily ever since, far surpassing gray seals’ normal life expectancy of about 25 years.

In honor of his recent 31st birthday, his caregivers decided to give him a special fish cake, and the pictures are just too cute for words!

You can tell from his expression that he thoroughly enjoyed his icy treat! Georgina Shannon, the sanctuary’s marketing and media coordinator, added, “Yulelogs absolutely loved his birthday cake. It’s a great form of enrichment for him also as it requires a bit of thinking on how to get the fish out of the cake!â€

Even better, the celebration was a pick-me-up for everyone involved, from the birthday seal himself to the people who admire and support him through donations. The sanctuary was closed for several months due to the novel coronavirus, so Yulelogs’ party came at the perfect time for staffers too.

“It’s been an incredibly tough few months,” Georgina said. “So it was just really nice to have a moment of celebration.†

Happy birthday, Yulelogs! You don’t look a day over 25 to us, and we’re so glad we got to celebrate this new milestone with you.
