You’ll Never Believe How Much This 285-Yr-Old Lemon Was Auctioned For!

old lemon

I’ve never considered collecting fruit, but maybe it’s a lucrative opportunity. This 285-year-old lemon was just sold at an auction for an unbelievable price.

You read that right: the lemon was almost 300 years old!

A family brought in a cabinet to Brettells Auctions to be sold. As the specialist was photographing the cabinet, this lemon rolled out from the back of the drawer.

The lemon was inscribed with a message: “Given By Mr P Lu Franchini Nov 4 1739 to Miss E Baxter.”

Romance isn’t dead, after all. In fact, it’s alive and well in this beautiful and elderly lemon.

November 4… 1739! That’s a long time ago!

The family handed the lemon over to Brettells, and it went to auction.

The highest bid?

An astonishing $1,780!

Now that’s a valuable lemon!

Then, Instagram fans had a hay day with the post, taking to the comments to share their wittiest puns.

“You would be an absolute Lemon to not bid on this fantastic item,” commented one fan.

It’s not every day you see a lemon this old (or valuable). Perhaps we should all be using lemons instead of our phones to send texts… then we can all have a lemon auction in a few hundred years!
