Even though some of their stories truly break your heart, others spark so much joy. Brittany Smith ordered DoorDash, and when she saw her delivery driver on her Ring Camera, it shocked her. Little did she know, a 78-year-old man named Richard, who dropped off Brittany’s order, was about to have his life turned upside down.

Brittany Wanted to Help the Elderly DoorDash Driver
Brittany used Facebook to help locate Richard. She learned that he and his wife, Brenda, were both retired and used DoorDash to supplement his income. Seeing this sweet elderly man struggle to bring a bag to her door was too much for Brittany. So, she launched a GoFundMe to help. What happened next shocked them all.
“Richard delivered Starbucks to my home via door dash and it was evident from the video this was a task for him. With the help of social media I was able to track down Richard and learned he does DoorDash due to his wife being fired from her job (at no fault of her own) and by the time they pay their monthly expenses plus purchase their medication there is nothing left,” Brittany wrote on the fundraiser. “Let’s help Richard go back into retirement!!”
In a matter of days, she raised more than $800,000.
“I don’t know. It’s just I love this man,” Brittany told WSMV.
Brenda and Richard told the news station they are incredibly grateful for the help.
“She’s remarkable. I just can’t believe that someone would be that caring to set this up for us,” Brenda said.
