One man has the most romantic reason for filling the garden with peonies, and his wife was truly swept off her feet! Kristen Swenson revealed in a sweet video on social media that her husband promised to plant her favorite blooms in abundance when they got engaged. Five years later, the devoted partner has created a peony wonderland in their yard. While this would be a beautiful gift in itself, Kristen suspected there was a deeper reason.
“5 years ago my husband offered a grand gesture to plant 1,000 peonies, my favorite flower, if I said yes to marrying him,” the woman wrote in her post. “He has exceeded the 1000 peonies and has already planted enough for 7,500 stems. Today I asked him why the peony garden is so important to him. I wasn’t expecting this answer!”
In Kristen’s video, she shared a clip of her husband’s response. His reasoning had to do with the perennial nature of both the flowers and his love. We could all learn a thing or two about romance from this man!
“When people are dating or when they’re engaged, people will tell the whole world how much they love their partner,” the husband began. “But then as soon as we get married, we stop saying it out loud.”
He explained that the gorgeous peony garden was his “way of telling the whole world every spring how much I love my wife.”
Best. Husband. Ever.
Unsurprisingly, commenters thought that this man’s gift to his wife was incredibly romantic!
