But, a veteran wife knows that the real goal is to have your husband look at you that way well past your wedding day. Fifty-two-year-old Lourdes Hembrick was lucky enough to see that same look on her husband’s face after she was the recipient of an ambush makeover on “TODAY.”

Lourdes was selected from the audience because she was on her last legs of nursing school! To celebrate, she wanted a new look for her new job. Her only big desires were to have her hair long enough to pull back at work and to “cover the gray” in her strands.

Her husband was at the show to cheer her on and when the hosts were giving the audience Lourdes’s backstory, her sweet husband quietly pleaded not to get rid of her grays (we could end the story right here, because – husband goals!).

When Lourdes finally walked out on stage to reveal her gorgeous new look, her husband was the real-life version of a cartoon whose eyes pop out of its head.

His reaction was so sweet, that Lourdes began crying before even seeing what she looked like! The show’s stylists had kept the mirror away from her to make the surprise even better. When she finally stood in front of the mirror, she began crying harder while her husband held back his own tears in the background.

These two lovebirds are the picture of a successful marriage – gray hairs and all.
