Robert Irwin is giving the internet undeniable proof that bats aren’t scary. In an absolutely precious TikTok video, the wildlife expert introduced us to Clyde, a flying fox (aka fruit bat) at the Australian Zoo Wildlife Hospital. This little guy is currently in rehabilitation before he can return to the wild. In the meantime, Irwin demonstrated an important care tip: how to make a “bat burrito.” This involved wrapping the creature up in a cozy blanket!
“This little bat burrito keeps him nice and warm, they can retain their heat, they feel protected,” said Robert Irwin, showing off the adorable, swaddled fruit bat.
As we’d expect from the son of famous conservationist Steve Irwin, Robert gets up close and personal with animals all the time. However, he still couldn’t get over the tiny bundle of joy in his arms!
“Look at that little face,” he said fondly. “Anyone with a fear of bats, it disappears as soon as you see that face. They’re just like a little puppy dog with wings.”
Viewers were delighted by the dose of cuteness that the young environmentalist brought to their screens.
“Robert Irwin holding a bat burrito is the wholesome content we all needed today,” wrote one commenter.
