When This Cat Owner Adopted A New Kitten, They Never Expected Their Male Cat To Do This!

Image shows a male cat carrying an adopted kitten by the scruff.

Being a pet owner with more than one animal can be a series of trials and errors. When introducing a new pet to an older, established animal, it doesn’t always work out as expected. With an adult male cat, adopting a tiny kitten can be a risky venture.

When Sunshine Iller brought the adopted kitten home, she tried a slow introduction. That didn’t work. Almost as soon as they met, the male cat transformed into the best mom cat on the planet. He grooms his little baby, carries it around, and snuggles with it. The kitten is technically a foster cat until he gets big enough for adoption. We are fairly certain that he has found his furever home.

And it’s only his second day with us, I can’t wait to watch them grow together🥹

Astro is busy teaching the adopted kitten, Mars, how to be a big cat and play on the tower. Sunshine recently moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and noticed that Astro seemed lonely. His entire demeanor changed when she brought Mars home.

Astro had been hiding upstairs since the move, not being sociable, and just not himself. When Sunshine brought Mars home, she was snuggling the kitten on her chest when Astro came downstairs on his own. Sunshine told Newsweek, “Astro came up to Mars and immediately sniffed him and then started licking him. Since then, he’s been downstairs, and they follow each other everywhere.”

Whether you call Astro a mother or a father, it is clear that he has accepted the role as a parent, guardian, and protector of Mars. Astro doesn’t have a preference as long as you don’t try to take his kitten away from him!
