Brutal weather caused a houseboat in Florida to capsize, trapping three people inside the craft. Thankfully, a heroic mariner and a group of friends on a fishing trip were close enough to help! WJHG reports that Travis Brady, Fort Walton Beach, and two of their buddies were on the hunt for red snapper when sailing conditions turned dangerous. As they prepared to return to land, they noticed the contents of the upturned houseboat floating across the Panama City Marina.
Travis told reporters that a man in a nearby boat, later identified as Jordan Boyd, swam to the rescue as soon as he witnessed the disaster. Once he reached the houseboat, he broke the window to free the three victims trapped inside. He did all this without a life jacket.
“He is the true hero of this story,” Travis recounted. “Without hesitation he was just in the water helping those people.”
Following Jordan’s example, Travis and his friends joined the rescue. Together, they helped the houseboat party and a stranded pontoon driver get back to shore.
“It restores your faith in humanity,” said Travis of the makeshift rescue team. “Makes you really reflect on the things that are really important in life, I’m going to try and not get emotional. It was an intense moment that ultimately I’m just going to say it came down to God putting us in the right place at the right time.â€
He continued, “All glory be to God man. He put us in the right place at the right time. I’ve never been super religious but today was just an eye opening moment for me. I just feel like divine intervention puts you in the right place at the right time.”
