There are all sorts of fun ways to get wedding guests involved in both the ceremony and reception. But when it came time for Joachim Blicher’s big day, he and his wife wanted to think outside the box. With a love for beautiful design, they came up with a clever way to have guests put together a beautiful wedding mosaic made entirely out of LEGOs.

Before you head to a LEGO store, you should know that this activity is not one that can be purchased from the company itself. On the contrary, Joachim took countless hours planning and testing out his idea. Seriously, so much love and effort went into this project. But before we go over that process more, let’s check out the stunning results in the video below:

“Some people make pretty decorations for their wedding,” Joachim writes in the caption of his viral video. “I spent endless nights preparing 70 unique LEGO builds for my guests to put together.”

To make this creative idea a reality, Joachim faced many challenges. First, he had to figure out a LEGO design that would give each guest a fun section to put together. Next, he had to order over 3,000 colorful bricks… that weren’t sorted and often varied in color.

“So my son and I spent evenings matching, assembling, and slowly bringing the image to life,” Joachim explains, adding that “This part was fun though.”

Finally, each section was placed into little boxes. Each one included the name of a guest. Who got which section was decided “based on assumed LEGO skill level.”

In the end, guests had a blast and the newlyweds got a memorable keepsake they’ll cherish forever. How cool is that!?

“Seventy adults in full LEGO focus mode. Some helped each other. Some high-fived when they finished,” Joachim recalls. “This artwork now hangs on our wall to remind us of this perfect day.”
