Kelly Ellen didn’t think her late mom would ever be able to meet her future husband. When her mother passed away, the young woman was only 16. It was with a heavy heart that she resigned herself to the difficult truth: when she got married, it would be to someone her mom would never know. However, life has a funny way of surprising us, even when something seems impossible.
As it turns out, when Kelly finally did fall in love, it was to a childhood friend. Her boyfriend was actually her mother’s best friend’s son. Then, when the man proposed to her, she realized something. Not only had her late mom met her future husband after all, she’d actually known him quite well!
Kelly shared this unbelievable story on social media. Not only did she post footage of her fiancé’s sweet proposal, but she also included an adorable childhood photo of the two of them. What’s even more cute is that the pair were holding hands in the picture!
Even though her mother wouldn’t be there on the couple’s special day, she’d be in the bride’s heart. Knowing that her late mom had already met her future husband made it feel like she would still be part of the wedding somehow.
“I know my mom is with us every step of the way,” Kelly wrote in the caption of her video. “I know many of you can relate to losing someone special to you and wishing they were here to celebrate a wedding, graduation, or birthday. I’m right there with you!”
