Couple’s Chance Meeting On Southwest Flight Leads To Sweetest Love Story.

Sitting down next to a cute stranger on a flight, striking up a conversation, and ultimately marrying them sounds like a meet-cute in a romantic comedy movie. However, for Cathlyn and Michael, that’s exactly how it went down.

Upon boarding a 5 AM Southwest Airlines flight in November 2018, Cathlyn saw Michael sitting next to the window in an exit row. Since he was so handsome, she jumped at the opportunity to take the aisle seat in his row, hoping to strike up a conversation with him. And it worked!

Still, the situation wasn’t exactly how Cathlyn hoped it would be, because Bonny Andrews, a pastor from India, opted to take the seat between the two. Thankfully for Cathlyn, Bonny struck up a conversation with both of them, and the trio spent the two-hour flight talking and learning about each other. By the end of the flight, Cathlyn and Michael had exchanged numbers and each of them texted a family member saying they had met “the one.”

The couple dated a year before Michael was ready to pop the question. When he did, he made sure to pay tribute to their Southwest Airlines roots by proposing to her in the cabin of the first Southwest plane at the Frontiers of Flight Museum in Dallas, Texas. Obviously, Cathlyn said yes.

After the engagement, Southwest sent the couple a celebratory bottle of champagne that they personalized with the flight number from when they first met. It’s no surprise that while the couple spent the next year planning their wedding they made sure the big day would include some adorable Southwest Airlines decor and details.

Michael and Cathlyn didn’t stop at nods to the airline, though, they also called up a very special pastor to ask if he’d officiate the wedding. Bonny was thrilled for the couple and jumped at the opportunity to declare them husband and wife.

Cathlyn and Michael’s love story is truly one out of a movie! While it’s unlikely that any other flight will be as memorable as that first one, they now have plenty more trips to look forward to in the future.
