Too Precious: Texas Zoo Welcomes Their First Lion Cub In Nearly Ten Years!

Congratulations to the Fort Worth Zoo! There’s a new baby in town: a lion cub named Moja!

Moja was born in October of 2023 to Jabulani and Saba, lions living in the incredible Fort Worth Zoo in Texas. Moja is a special delivery because he’s the first baby lion born in the zoo since 2015.

He could not be more adorable. This lion cub is a playful, mischievous boy looking to take on adventure. Moja is his mom Saba’s firstborn, so he’s taking a special spot in not only our hearts but hers, too!

The Fort Worth Zoo shared news of this lion cub’s birth on Facebook this week.

“At 4 days old, Moja weighed 2.7 pounds (less than a bag of flour!) and is now tipping the scale at 16 pounds,” captioned the zoo’s team. “This little guy is learning what play means and can usually be found pouncing and playing with mom. We are so excited about this little one and can’t wait for you to meet him soon!”

He hasn’t made his public debut yet, but we’re so excited to watch this lion cub in action. What a cutie pie!
