Talent often runs in families, but the Tongas take it to a whole new level.

All five of Walter and Telesia Tonga’s daughters have a knack for singing. After all, as Alexsia, Tiueti, Lela, Elisiva, and Nini have said, music is in their blood. Not only does it come from their hearts, but it also reflects their pride in their Polynesian culture.

The sisters, who were raised in Hawaii after their parents immigrated from Tonga, began singing together as little girls. They started in church, but videos of their gorgeous five-level harmony soon propelled them into viral stardom. In 2018, they were invited onto “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” where their fame only grew.

This year, they auditioned for the inaugural season of “America’s Most Musical Family,” a new Nickelodeon show in which one talented group will win $250,000 and a recording contract with Republic Records.
Unsurprisingly, they set the bar high when they took the stage with a beautiful rendition of “Never Enough” from “The Greatest Showman.” From the moment they opened their mouths, the audience was riveted by their unique blend of individuality, passion, and sisterhood.

Tiueti explained that their heritage fuels each of their performances:
The Polynesian islands, they’re all about music. Music has been the way that we’ve shared stories, passed on traditions, culture. Music is in us, and just the opportunity of being here … we’re able to bring the aloha spirit to all of you.

Celebrity judges Ciara, David Dobrik, and Debbie Gibson certainly experienced that wonderful spirit. Throughout the Tonga sisters’ audition, their faces were a mix of shock and awe.
“That was more than enough for me,” Ciara said when they finished. “I could feel you guys, your sisterhood, in the performance. That is what it’s supposed to be.”

We’re pretty sure calling these sisters talented is the understatement of the century. The way they work together is absolutely breathtaking. Until the show is over, you’ll find us waiting impatiently until they perform again.
