“Today” Lands A Celebrity Host As Hoda Kotb Exits The Show

Today Host Hoda Kotb

When Hoda Kotb announced her retirement from the Today show in September, many wondered what would happen with Jenna Bush Hager. Fans loved watching Hoda and Jenna interact, and the Today hosts clearly had chemistry both on-screen and off. To develop a friendship with the people you work with daily is indeed a gift that neither Jenna nor Hoda appeared to take for granted. Last week, Today announced Hoda’s last day on the show will be January 10. After her retirement, the fourth out of the show will continue with Jenna Hager but will follow a different format.

Jenna Will Continue to Host The Fourth Hour Of ‘Today’ With A Twist

Jenna told People Scarlett Johansson will begin as a guest co-host of Today with Jenna & Friends on January 21.

Jenna said, “Scarlett Johansson is the queen! First of all, I’ve been obsessed with her movies since forever. The Girl with a Pearl Earring, I mean that shows you I’m a nerd who loves to read,” she said. “She’s also a big reader, which will be so much fun. We have so much in common.”

During the January 7 broadcast, current Today host Hoda shared her excitement for Jenna.

“First of all, you guys had a great click. She is an awesome person,” Hoda said. “And right away, I still remember, right when she was here, you were like, ‘Can she do it?’ You know when you know someone’s gonna be good at something?”

Jenna said she looks forward to Jenna & Friends and having a new format on the show.

“What’s so cool about it is that it really does feel like we’re pulling up chairs for all different types of people,” Jenna explained. “Yes, we have actors, but we also have comedians and people in media. And I think that really is what we’re hoping to have: a total representation of who watches our show and something for every viewer.”
