Montenegro is a small country near the coast of the Adriatic Sea. Known for the sheer beauty of its landscape, it is a tourist heaven on earth. Traveling to the area, you can view glacial lakes, impressive mountains, and enjoy your stay at one of many beach resorts. The entire country offers historic, cultural, and natural wonders. One of the most famous attractions in Montenegro is a tree gushing water.

Known as the Water Tree of Montenegro, this mulberry tree is over 150 years old. Located near the town of Dinoša, the tree sits in a scenic valley. When it is the dry season, it is just a tree. But during the rainy season, the tree becomes a fountain gushing water.

There is a scientific explanation for the phenomenon. The ancient tree grows above an underground spring. During the rainy season, the springs overflow. Due to the age of the tree, its insides are hollowed out. When the underground springs flood, the water seeks the easiest path for escape. The pressure of the accumulating water forces its way up through the tree trunk.

Even though there is a benign, boring, scientific explanation, the sight of this tree gushing water is still impressive. If you ever find yourself in the scenic wonderland of Montenegro, stop to see this genuinely remarkable mulberry tree gushing water.
